Anemone

Anemones make excellent garden plants. Blanda does very well in sun or light shade. Nemorosa or true woodland Anemones prefer a cool situation in light shade with plenty of humus and will take a couple of seasons to settle.

    Anemone blanda Blue.   Naturalising

    This small tuber is one of the best for early colour. Small starry flowers in shades of pale to dark violet-blue above deeply cut leaves. Very easy to naturalise round the base of a tree or under shrubs. Superb under early magnolia. It is an excellent early spring groundcover for daffodils etc. It is also the perfect partner for bulbs in containers - try it with Narcissus Tete-a-Tete or Toto.  Summer dormant.

    Anemone blanda White Splendour.

    Very large showy white flowers which last extremely well. Very easy to naturalise on a rock garden. It is the most perfect bulb for massing under tulips in containers or at the front of a sunny border.  Plant the tubers in autumn in a sunny position. Summer dormant.

    Anemone nemorosa (Wood Anemone).

    Our native wood anemone with dainty white flowers on slender stems and divided leaves. Excellent for naturalising under trees and shrubs where they can spread to form extensive patches.  Plant the rhizomes in autumn but do not allow them to dry out first or they will die!

Broadleigh Display Gardens

Over the past 30 years, the 5 acre gardens and nursery at Broadleigh Gardens have become a well established major attraction for our customers. Described by one visitor as a wonderful secret garden.

The gardens are open Monday – Friday 9am to 4pm for a £2.50 charity donation

(all proceeds go to St Margaret’s Somerset Hospice).
