Allium christophii.
This is one of the most instantly recognisable alliums. Flowers freely in June, bearing large heads, up to 25cm (10”), of star-shaped amethyst-violet flowers with a metallic sheen. These dry well and can be left in the garden, where they will seed around gently, or be cut for indoor decoration. Excellent towards the front of a sunny border, or they can even be grown under trees in part shade. They will also grow in grass for something very exotic!
