Tulipa turkestanica ( bifloriformis ) (species)
This an outstanding species tulip. The spikes carry five to nine small glistening white flowers which open wide to reveal yellow centres. It is very early flowering, just as the reticulata iris fade. It is very reliable and long lived and flowers regularly under our trees. Although this bulb is well known under this name it is really a selection from T.bifloriformis.
Plant the bulbs in late autumn at least 6" deep in well drained soil in full sun.
